Areas of Practice
James McCarney specializes in white collar criminal, commercial, and civil litigation. He has handled a broad array of litigation matters in both federal and state courts as well as domestic and foreign arbitrations involving Europe and Latin America.

Experience
Mr. McCarney is a native New Yorker and veteran trial lawyer.   Following graduation from NYU Law School and a three-year stint at Dewey Ballantine, Mr. McCarney struck out on his own to co-found what became the premier white collar criminal and civil litigation boutique of Engel, McCarney & Kenney. Working closely with two veteran prosecutors from the United States Attorney’s Office in Manhattan, Mr. McCarney handled a wide variety of civil and criminal litigations in federal and state courts across the country, as well as arbitrations in both the U.S. and Europe. Prosecuting and defending claims on behalf of both a domestic and international clientèle, he served as lead trial and appellate counsel in the wide range of matters that give rise to the Firm’s current practice areas.  In 2007, Mr. McCarney’s former firm became the cornerstone of the New York office of an AmLaw 100 firm, where he brought his skills to bear on behalf of Fortune 500 and other multi-national clients.

Accomplishments
Mr. McCarney’s litigation accomplishments for his clients have been widely reported in the press, including the Wall Street Journal and New York Times.  He was also cited for General, Securities and International Litigation in Super Lawyers Magazine.
